“I try to check in with at least one family member or friend once a day (via phone call or text) to ask how they are managing/coping without pre-expectation of explaining how I am doing. I practice yoga first thing in the morning, then meditate, then arrive at my office and greet anyone present (individually) to ask how they are doing (and wait for an answer). I check in with anyone else. I take deep breaths before changing tasks (difficult during emergencies) to allow my brain time to remain calm and get more oxygen and reset. I take short breaks, close my eyes and concentrate on breathing. I walk outside. I stretch. And I watch British comedies (whatever makes you laugh) and read old Far Side and Calvin & Hobbes cartoons.”
