“I have tried some of the stress management ideas. The first one that stuck with me was the thinking of two things I am grateful for while washing my hands. I thought that was a good idea and I try to pick different things each day, for example: One day was kids and wife, next day was staying healthy for me and my co-workers, another day was making sure we were good on supplies for the Officers, etc. It is actually easy to think of something every time I wash my hands. The second one I liked was "Can I change this, will I change this". You know Police Officers can be set in their ways and some like change and some don't. So when I think of that phrase I was reminding myself to change and to make sure other members of my department can change as well. It has seemed to work pretty good. Obviously the one big change was washing may hands way more than I usually do. Also the Officers I work with are doing the same. Just by watching the way we go through soap is one way of telling.”
